Dog walker
Walk shelter dogs, twice a week minimum. Best for runners or anyone who loves a brisk morning. Training: 2 hours in-person.

Take a pet home for a few weeks — kittens too young to adopt, dogs recovering from surgery, mamas with litters. We cover supplies and vet.

Questions we get all the time.
How old do I have to be?
16 for most roles, 18 for dog walking, 21 for foster and transport. Kids 12-15 are welcome with a guardian volunteering alongside them.
How much time do I need to commit?
It varies by role. Cat socializers and admin can come once a month. Dog walkers and event team work best at 2-4 shifts a month.
Do I have to pay for anything?
No. Fostering supplies and vet care are covered by us. We provide a volunteer T-shirt at orientation.
Can I bring my own dog to volunteer with me?
Not into the shelter — too many variables for our resident pets. Off-site events sometimes welcome friendly pets, ask the event lead.
Can I do school community-service hours here?
Yes. We sign forms, log hours via Better Impact, and write recommendation letters for college applications.
What if I can't make a shift I signed up for?
Drop the shift in Better Impact at least 24 hours ahead. Last-minute cancellations are inevitable sometimes — let us know and don't worry about it.
