Sometimes the right decision is to ask us to take your pet. That's okay. We'd rather you reach out than abandon them somewhere. Owner surrender is by appointment — we'll talk first, by phone, to understand what's going on and to make sure we can give your pet the best possible outcome.
How owner surrender works
Spaces are limited, so we schedule surrenders by appointment. Here's what to expect:
- Call or fill out the form below — we'll respond within 1 business day
- 30-minute phone conversation to understand your pet and your situation
- Schedule a drop-off appointment that works for you (usually within 2 weeks)
- Bring your pet, their records, and anything that comforts them (a blanket, a toy)
- We'll talk about your pet's history and personality so we can match them well
- You can opt in to updates when your pet finds a home — most families do
There's no fee for owner surrender. Donations welcome but never required.
Lost and Found Pets
We use Petco Love Lost photo-matching plus a community bulletin board. 412 lost pets were reunited with their owners last year. Yours could be next.
